I’ve come to terms with the fact that my living room will ALWAYS have at least one toy, stray sock, or sippy cup where it doesn’t belong.
And that’s okay.
Here are a few more family rooms where it truly seems as though EVERY member of the family is welcome – grown-ups AND kids!
I love the storage along the wall in this room, and kid-friendly leather furniture. From www.iheartorganizing.com
This is not really a living room, but I love the colors used. The flooring looks like carpet tiles, which are great for kids. www.bhg.com
This is definitely a sophisticated space, but there are toys VISIBLE! I love it! From www.hgtv.com.
See that basket of toys in the bottom right of the photo? Plenty of floor space to play, and places to cuddle for movie night. www.beachhouseinthecity.blogspot.com
I love the mix of colors on the sofa, and the great family photo! My boys would love driving tractors all over that tile floor. www.kristendukephotography.com
The wall of storage is great, and the coffee table looks like it could double as a play table. From: www.theinspiredroom.net
The use of color in this room would help camouflage any wayward toys that happened to be left around. www.abodelove.blogspot.com
Do you have a family room that you love? What elements make it work for your family?
I love seeing how people decorate their family rooms. I'm trying to figure out what to do with ours, it's 18x20. I have lots of ideas, but no budget right now :(
ReplyDeleteThose are all really gorgeous rooms. I love the carpet tiles. Our family room is a toy explosion. I don't want the kids to grow up too quickly, but I do look forward to them being a little older and helping a bit more with straightening. Their rooms are very small, so playspace is out in the open!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the first 2 rooms! As Starr said, I love the carpet tiles, too. What I love about the tiles is their simplicity, and that they can be replaced if there's an awful spill or more wear-n-tear in certain spots. The colors from the second room are my favs. And yes, I so believe that it is close to impossible to keep a room completely kid-free especially if it's a FAMILY room, and I agree 100%, that is OK.
ReplyDeleteWe love our family room so much better now that we got furniture that fit the scale and had a big entertainment center built in. What's best about the unit is that all Jemma's toys fit in the cabinets on the bottom. We shut the doors and it is all hidden!
ReplyDeleteLove the one with the globes, perhaps it the giant pokemon on the shelf underneath that I think is awesome?!
ReplyDeleteReally? must I accept the stray socks, slippers, toys and other assorted junk my children leave lying around.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours & style of the 4th room.
