I used to love summer. But this one’s been tough. The heat has made it hard for Adam and I to play outside, but it’s been even harder on the turkeys (and their devoted farmer.)
And the bugs – even when it was cooler, the bugs were so bad that Adam walks around slapping his head saying, “I got him, I got that skeeto bug,” out of habit.
Why so many bugs this year? The water. I haven’t even posted about the water yet. But google “Squaw Creek” under news and you’ll see what my lovely creek did to my even lovelier alma mater. Not good.
So, today is the day I’ve been waiting for. We are hanging out on the porch in sweatshirts…there is a gentle breeze, and although the leaves aren’t yet turning, we can hear them rustling against each other. Occasionally, we hear a cow from down the road, and the neighbor cat is here to visit, as always. Adam is talking to his tractors, and I’m just sitting here, soaking it all in.
That boy of yours is adorable. I LOVE that last photo! I'm ready for Fall too. The evenings and mornings here are getting cooler -- such a nice change.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you! So glad that the weather has finally broke. I hope we have one fabulous fall... full of wind blown leaves, apple orchards and campfires!
ReplyDeletePsst... glad to have you back! I think August about kicked everyone's butt :)
We have the windows flung open and we're enjoying the awesome cool weather! I was so excited that I was going to post about it this morning until I checked the weather... right back up to the 90s on Saturday and through next week. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day! Your description made me feel like I was sitting on the porch swing right there with you! I am actually sitting here thinking about putting on my socks because my toes feel like they are going to freeze! The weatherman is saying it will be back up to 90 this weekend ;-( I hate it when we are teased with this lovely weather, only to get another punch from summer. I'm a fall girl 100%
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your day with Adam and that farmer of yours! Mine just headed out to find his dad; one of the silage wagons has a flat tire! There's always something to do on the farm!
Great pictures!!! Sounds like a lovely day!!! I wish I was there with you. It is only 89 today, but the heat index is still in the mid 90's. This has definitely been a hot summer. Last year we went to the beach at least once a week. THis year, maybe three times. It is just too hot! Enjoy the time with Adam! Sweatshirts... I am jealous!!! Fall is my favorite time of year! It should be here, ohhhhh, in a about 3 months!!!
ReplyDeleteYour son is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteAre you off of work today? So happy you are enjoying a lovely day with your handsome boy.
ReplyDeleteWe are all ready for fall here in TN. It's been a horribly hot summer.
He is just squeezy cute! My boys were in sweatshirts playing in their sandbox with only the crickets to keep us company. I love my garden and we haven't had flooding problems like you have, but it's so nice to have cooler days to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteHe's soo cute! I cannot wait for fall either.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at "sweatshirts...". Jealous. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome - The porch is my favorite place in the world - looks like a great day!
