I saw the sign
Life is demanding, without understanding
Who’s singing now? You know you are. Ace of Base was my first CD…3rd grade.
Okay, anyway, this post is about THIS SIGN. Not the one Ace of Base saw.
THIS is my first hand painted sign. And I’m oh-so-proud of myself.
I put a couple coats of primer on a board I found by Bart’s shop. Waited a few days thinking I’d stencil some elaborate, special font off my computer, and then saw that Funky Junk’s Saturday Night Special was garden junk, so I just wung it. (You know, the past tense of wing it.)
I just drew a couple of lines, used a paint pen, and freehanded it.
It was so beautiful. I was so proud. And then I stepped back and realized I spelled soles RIGHT – as in SOULS. That was NOT going to work!
So I put about 14 coats of primer over the last 3 letters, and blowdried it so I could still get the post up in time for SNS, and then repainted. If you look carefully, you can see the original spelling, and how it’s brighter white in that corner, but none of you all are allowed to look closely. So quit looking! And share your favorite failed craft, just to make me feel better, please?
Garden of Lost "Souls" would be a little creepy .... "soles" is much cuter! :)
ReplyDeleteok you caught me singin' : D unfortunately I wasn't in 3rd grade when that came out...
ReplyDeleteyour sign looks great!
I started singing before I even opened this post! And to go even more old school.... I had an Ace of Base tape! And now the song is stuck in my head. Oh well. :) Cute sign, I wouldn't even dare to attempt a craft, so have no failures to share.
ReplyDeleteVery creative! I have a sign in my garden that says "Garden of Weedin" Are those some flowers planted in the top of that shoe? if so you should get extra creativity points for that.
ReplyDeleteLove your sign and you would never know about the little mistake. That old shoe is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI just love this project!
ReplyDeleteI love this! And now I have the song stuck in my head!
ReplyDeleteGirl, that's funny...you school teacher you. :)
ReplyDeleteI love being real...look at my simple post today. I think it's good to show our kinks and wrinkles sometimes.
That's so funny! I have a failed craft in my closet that I was planning to blog about (if it had been a success) and post to the parties last week. It's still sitting there and my blog got neglected. Love how your Sole garden turned out!
ReplyDeleteShould have left it misspelled and made it a game. It would have been fun to see if people actually noticed:)
ReplyDeleteI love the sign! It is perfect for the garden, Katie! :)
ReplyDeleteA couple of weeks ago, in the early, wee hours of a Thurs. morning, I was making yard sale signs to put out that evening. I kinda' got in a hurry - and, did I mention it was really early? I spelled my street name wrong! I've only lived here for 16 years... hahaha! Beat that...
