Obsession: Photography

So, I’ve always kind of had an interest in photography.  When I went to France in high school, I tried to take some artsy shots.  But I’ve never taken a class or learned much about it.

 

Until I got this baby:

My Canon Rebel XS 1000D (the cheapest one) and I also got a zoom lens: EF-S 55-250mm 1:4-5.6 IS that was on super sale.

 

This new obsession with photography all started in February.  I went to a Creative Memories Regional Convention and saw a short video featuring Nick Kelsh from “How to Photograph Your Baby” fame.  The video was super helpful, but the best part was his sense of humor.  :)  I immediately went home and tried to take better pictures using his advice.

And then my camera broke.  Crumbs and cameras don’t mix.  Just sayin'.

So I had to get a new camera.  And I got a cheap little crappy one that I hate.

So I had to get another one.  And we got a tax return.  And I got my baby.

And my pictures were immediately better, but still not fabulous.  So I started researching and learning in my “free” time.

Most of what I’ve learned has come from:

1. Blog tutorials like Funky Junk Interiors and Tatertots and Jello.
2. Nick Kelsh’s Facebook Group – He edits and critiques members’ photos to demonstrate different techniques.  And he’s hilarious.
3. Canon’s website.

And now, drumroll please, the results:

 

 

I know they’re not perfect (especially the lighting in the “blue shirt” series) but I’m pretty proud!  It’s kind of hard to remember everything I’ve learned while trying to catch Adam running around the yard!
